Unlike a conference, a show gives no warning. The site survey, the soundcheck and the run-through are what separate filming that keeps up from filming that is permanently one second behind.
Sound
A dedicated mix built from the console sources, complemented by ambient miking. This is what gives the feeling of being in the room.
Lighting
Stage lighting designed for the eye puts cameras under strain: extreme contrasts, saturated colours, sudden changes. We discuss this with the lighting designer beforehand rather than correcting it in the control room.

Why does the sound of a concert recording differ from the sound in the venue?
Because a venue’s PA is tuned for the audience present, not for a microphone. Filming uses a dedicated mix built from the console sources, with ambient miking that conveys the presence of the audience.
Do we need to rehearse with the technical team?
A soundcheck or run-through is very useful. It allows us to note positions, key moments and lighting changes, and so anticipate rather than react.
Can we stream live and still have a clean edit afterwards?
Yes. The stream comes from the live mix, and each camera angle is recorded separately to allow a later edit.
