Practical constraints in Geneva
Institutional venues require the list of staff, vehicles and equipment in advance. This list is prepared with the technical file, well before the build.
The old town has narrow, sloping, cobbled streets with little space for unloading. Crossing the city and the approaches to the airport are congested at peak times, so deliveries are scheduled outside these hours. During major trade fairs, hotels and delivery slots around Palexpo are in high demand.
Outdoors, use of public land must be requested from the City of Geneva or the municipality concerned. On the harbour, the bise can blow hard for several days in a row, so the ballast for a screen or a structure is calculated from its wind load.
